Weeding of Planting and Flowering Beds

Plant bed weedingLandscaped beds should be maintained every two weeks to keep them nearly weed and debris free. Whatcom Lawns Inc. uses a variety of hand tools, powered trimmers and tillers to weed beds, although some beds require the hand pulling of weeds. Others do well with line trimming and the broadcasting of a granular weed control product.

Weeds do not compete well with dense healthy soil, therefore the maintenance of a healthy thick bedding foundation and cover is very important to producing nearly weed free planting and flowering beds.

Whatcom Lawns Inc. often recommends applying a minimum of 1.5 inches of mulch or fine bark as a top layer. It is also a decorative way to add density to planting and flowering beds.
